Smile

I spent 2 years

In plastic molds

That held my teeth

As they moved,

I used sticky strips

And trays to whiten,

But nothing seemed

To do,

It seems that overnight,

They dimmed,

Like I somehow swallowed

The light

That used to shine

From a smile

That made old pictures

Bright,

If it wasn't my teeth,

And it wasn't my face,

And it wasn't the lens

Of an older phone,

Then what can I do

To get back the light

In the smile I had

Before I let him go?
