Teamwork
My brother and I
Just loved to fight.
He would hide all my toys
And scare me at night.
We told on each other
And drove our mom mad.
We screamed in the car
And mom almost crashed.
He made up stories.
I was put in time-out.
Mom just about
Pulled all her hair out.
It seemed our fighting
Was draining our mom.
She finally screamed,
“You must get along!
The bond of two siblings
Is stronger than glue!
If you just work together
There’s so much to do!”
We took her advice
And boy, was she right,
Though I’ll never forget
Her face on that night
When she walked in the kitchen
With pots on the floor,
And we had used all the pillows
To make a big fort.
We had made Kool-Aid
To drink with our lunch,
Which we spilled on the rug
(which cost her a bunch).
We had brought in some mud
To make a mud pie
Which our dog ate right up,
Then threw up nearby.
Mom took one look at
This mess and she screamed.
“But mom, you were right!
We make such a great team!”
